How the listings are ordered

Browse results are alphabetical by default. You can filter by neighbourhood, cuisine, category, indicative price band and recorded facilities, or sort by price band. Open-now results use listed hours in York’s local time; venues without usable hours are excluded from that filter.

Landmark guides show venues within 650 metres in a straight line, closest first. Budget guides prioritise checked menu examples, then lower recorded price bands. Other guides explain their selection on the page and generally list venues alphabetically. Nearby suggestions on venue pages use category and straight-line distance.

A business can pay for a place in the labelled supporter section on the homepage. Payment does not change its position in ordinary browse results or guide selections, and does not imply an editorial endorsement.

We do not publish a York Eats rating or reproduce third-party customer reviews. A listing is not a claim that we have personally visited. Menu and facility information should be checked with the venue before booking.
